Welbeck Injury Could Add To United’s Woes

Danny Welbeck could be an injury worry for both Manchester United and England after he left the Etihad Stadium wearing a protective boot following United’s 1-0 loss to Man City last night.

The 21-year-old was caught by Nigel de Jong during the second half, which caused a furious touchline argument between managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini.

After the game, Sir Alex said that Mancini was refereeing the game which sparked off the incident between the pair.

The gaffer said:

“He refereed the game. He was out on that touchline the whole game haranguing the referee, the fourth official and the linesmen.

“The minute I come off the bench for bad tackle by De Jong on Welbeck, he was out again.

“He can’t have it both ways. He’s been complaining about referees this season but he won’t be complaining tonight that’s for sure.”

The striker was expected to be in the England squad for the Euro’s this summer but his place could now be in doubt with only two games of the Premier League season remaining.

It hasn’t yet been confirmed how serious the injury is.

I cannot believe watching Rooney shout to the ref to get his attention and then call him a ‘F****** T**T and get away with it? I can accept most things apart from a hypocrite.
