Manchester United are reportedly considering signing two midfield stars valued at roughly £95million as the Red Devils prepare to replace Ander Herrera who has been linked with an exit to AC Milan this summer.
Herrera has been down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho side this season and has been odds favourite to leave Old Trafford according to some betting site like bettingtop10.com/ie. The Serie A giants, according to the Daily Express are reportedly lining up a £32million deal.
The report adds that this has seen the Old Trafford club look at potential moves for either Monaco star Fabinho at £45m or Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal at £50m.
The duo could be a fine signing for Man United, thought it remains to be seen precisely how the club would fit in as a replacement for Herrera given the fact that he has struggled for games this season.
Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba have been firmly ahead of Herrera in the pecking order at Old Trafford, so if Fabinho or Vidal arrived, they would presumably push one of those players out of the starting XI.
It may simply be that United feel they could do with an upgrade in that department anyway, with either Fabinho or Vidal giving them more options to rotate between truly world class performers in central midfield.
The Express add that United feel they may be forced to let Herrera go due to his current situation at the club.
In order news, the Old Trafford club are reportedly considering a move for Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal as the Bundesliga giants prepare to bring in Leon Goretzka in midfield.
According to Manchester Evening News, the news portal claim the Europa League holders are keen on signing Vidal as Jose Mourinho wants to reunite him with his former Juventus team-mate Paul Pogba in midfielder.
Both Pogba and Vidal proved a superb combination during their stay together at Juve and Mourinho feels it could be worth having the two players together again at Old Trafford.
The Daily Star also recently linked the Chile international with Man United and Chelsea, claiming Bayern would likely ask for around £53million for his signature.
This report also follows another report from the Daily Mirror in January that the Red Devils were looking into signing Nice star Jean Seri as another option in midfielder, which is clearly seen as a priority area for Mourinho.
The MEN now claim Vidal is being looked at as a successor to Michael Carrick, who will retire at the end of the season, while other players are also being considered as options.
Among those listed by the MEN are Napoli’s Jorginho and Julian Weigl of Borussia Dortmund, while Christian Pulisic is also a target in attack.
