Manchester United have reportedly made an enquiry to Chelsea about the possibility of signing Brazilian winger Willian as Jose Mourinho seeks a reunion with his former player.
Willian has recently been linked as a target for the Red Devils by the Daily Express, and the club have stepped up their efforts to bring him to Old Trafford, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 29-year-old was signed by Mourinho for the Blues and became a key player for Chelsea during Mourinho’s time in-charge of the club, whilst continuing to shine under Antonio Conte.
The winger is currently in best run of form at the moment after his starring roles in Chelsea’s last week’s 4-0 win over Qarabag and the 1-1 draw away to Liverpool. Willian is tied with Chelsea until 2020 and his currently earning £110,000-a-week at the Bridge, via Daily Star.
Man United could with improving their options out wide after the British tabloid note that they missed out on a natural wide-man in the summer transfer window, with Ivan Perisic targeted but not successfully brought in.
The Chelsea winger knows the Premier League very well and looks ideal to give our side more width and quality from midfield, though Chelsea may be cautious of selling to a rival Man United again after letting Nemanja Matic move to Old Trafford in the summer.
Matic was a key member of Blues that won the title last season before surprisingly being allowed to leave, and since his move to Old Trafford, he has been one of the most important players. It all remains to be seen how the transfer unfolds in January.
