Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been nominated for August’s Premier League Player of the Month award after a brilliant start to his second season at Old Trafford.
Fellow Manchester United players Phil Jones and Romelu Lukaku were also nominated alongside Mkhitaryan. The quick footed Armenian has lit up Old Trafford in the first 3 games of the new season as he’s taken the month of August by the scruff of the neck.
Mkhitaryan registered 5 assists in the Premier League already in comparison to just the one in last seasons’s edition. It appears that the 28-year-old former Dortmund man means serious business this year and should he continue his fine form, he may just carry the Red Devils to the title.
In his last year in Germany, he managed double figures for goals and assists, and many will be hoping he can do the same for the Red Devils. Henrikh is managing double the forward passes per game according to Squawka and just about triple the key passes in a stellar August.
Not only is he quick on his feet but Mkhitaryan is also a fast thinker and appears at his best when Manchester United are on the break.
While his vision and passing abilities are highly rated at Old Trafford, Henrikh possesses a fair bit of pace. The Armenia international can burst past defenders or twist defenders inside out with his dribbling. Mourinho has already pointed out that the player understands his manager better this year and it seems to be paying off with the team reaping the benefits after the dazzling midfielder’s first transitional season.
