Manchester United are reportedly lining up a fresh attempt to sign Ivan Perisic this winter. The Croatia international was heavily linked to join the Old Trafford club in the summer, but the deal could not be finalized due to Inter Milan’s reluctance to lower their £45m valuation.
According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho could retain his interest in the Croatian despite the forward putting pen to paper on a five-year contract with the San Siro giants earlier in September.
Initially it had been speculated that the contract extension would increase Perisic’s value even further, but report according to The Sun suggests that the new deal was signed in an attempt to raise up asking price which remains unchanged.
As a result, Mourinho could potentially get his target, should the club’s hierarchy show the willingness to meet the Nerrazzuri’s £45m price tag during the January transfer window.
The likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have impressed on the left side of the Red Devil’s attack, but Perisic would provide valuable experience in the ranks with his brilliant crossing ability.
The 28-year-old has been in brilliant form this season, and he has scored seven goals and registered six assists for Inter Milan, who are leading the Serie A standings after 16 games into the season.
