Chelsea reportedly leading Manchester United in the race to land Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, with both clubs having a similar problem moving forward.
Jose Mourinho still hasn’t signed a long-term solution at left-back with Ashley Young doing a brilliant job filling in with the likes of Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian all being played three.
In turn, getting a reliable and consistent player who is a natural in that spot will be key to improving the Old Trafford club as a team, which would allow them to compliment what Antonio Valencia offers on the opposite flank.
That makes their interest in Sandro is well noted, with The Sun nothing that United are keen on the Brazilian ace, who was valued at £80m this past summer, but trail Chelsea in the race to land his signature.
The Juve left-back is said to have told the club’s hierachy about his desire to leave, and so an exit in January is being touted with Massimiliano Allegri undeniably set to feel his loss if his departure materialises.
As for Chelsea, the Blues boss Antonio Conte would welcome such a move give that the Italian boss needs to add strength and depth in that area of his squad with Marcos Alonso rarely playing a full 90 minutes for the team so far this season.
Alonso was a key figure for Chelsea last season with the West London club fully on the Premier League, but with the Champions League also in play this year, it has be taking its toll on him and depth and competition is badly needed.
Sandro can certainly provide that, and the report suggests that Chelsea are leading the way which may well be a real frustration for Jose Mourinho who will have to look elsewhere.
As per the Metro, Tottenham’s Danny Rose has also been touted as a possible target, and so perhaps the Portuguese tactician may well have another name in mind anyway to take to Old Trafford.
