Real Madrid look to have complete a January transfer deal for Chelsea defender and rumoured Manchester United target David Luiz on loan with a view to a permanent move.
The report is according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, who claim the Brazilian’s move to Santiago Bernabeu has already been agreed after Florentino Perez identified the need to strengthen the core of Real’s defence this season.
Real Madrid lost an experienced centre-back Pepe over the summer, and the Chelsea’s defender could be an ideal addition to a struggling Zinedine Zidane’s side who’ll want to set his team up for a stronger second half of the season.
Luiz has recently gone off the grid at the Bridge, finding it difficult to establish himself as a regular start under Antonio Conte’s side, with youngster Andreas Christensen Conte’s preferred starter.
According to the Daily Express, the Blues’ £120,000-a-week situation has also raised some interest from Manchester United ahead of January, though the Spanish outlet suggest Luiz’s poised to move to Spain instead.
Jose Mourinho knows the Brazilian abilities well from working with him at Stamford Bridge, and also raided his old club for Nemanja Matic during the summer.
Chelsea doesn’t look too happy to sanction another big player exit from their ranks having lost Matic in the summer to Man United.
Chelsea fans my be disappointed, however, to see a player in form of Luiz leave their ranks just a year and a half rejoining the team from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and was influential for Chelsea in their successful season to the Premier League title in 2016/17.
