Manchester United boss needs to improve his team attacking play, specifically against string opposition but it seems that Jose Mourinho is more focused on constantly improving the back line.
Last year, the Portuguese boss opted to sign African center half Eric Bailly from Villareal. This year, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss splashed the cash to lure another center half by signing Victory Lindelof from Benfica.
The Sweden international has not been in brilliant run this season and reports suggest that Mourinho now wants to sign another central defender.
According to Spanish outlet Dario Gol, the Portuguese boss’ number 1 target is none than Real Madrid star Raphael Varane. Not to forget, the French defender was signed by the Los Blancos when Mourinho was in charge of the club.
The Spanish source have mentioned that the Les Bleus star is now a first choice defender under Zidane and therefore, Mourinho is now planning to sign Umtiti from Barcelona.
The 23-year-old star joined the Catalan club last season and starts regularly for them. His current deal with Barca will expire in 2021 and it has a release clause of €60million, Sport-English.
As per the provided Diario Gol link, Umtiti does not earn a huge salary as compared to Barca’s top stars and Manchester United would be willing to triple his wages to convince him to move.
