According to Daily Express, Real Madrid are set to offer Juan Mata the chance to return home to Spain in January.
The 29-year-old was left out of Jose Mourinho’s squad in the defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, something which left many fans stunned.
The former Chelsea midfielder, who started off as a youngster for Real Madrid, is thought to be wanted by Zinedine Zidane to inject fresh blood in the team, and help the Los Blancos back to their winning ways after their poor start to the season.
It wouldn’t be the first time Mourinho has sold Mata if the move materializes, with the Portuguese man famously selling the Spaniard to Man United from Chelsea back in 2013.
Mata has started 11 games for the Red Devils this season, however, has failed to complete 90 minutes in any of them, with Mourinho substituting him in every outing.
With Mata turning 30 in April, and his contract up in the summer, United may be willing to sell the player, avoiding him leaving Old Trafford on a free in July.
