Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly urged Real Madrid’s and France international Raphael Varane to make a future move to Old Trafford. Varane has been an integral part of the Los Blancos squad season since his move from Lens in the summer of 2011.
He became the youngest-ever player to win three Champions League titles after Madrid superb performance outclassed Juventus at the Cardiff City earlier in June whilst also winning the La Liga title twice with Madrid. However, the new season has not really been going has planned for the reigning La Liga Champions as they are already eight points behind Barcelona.
According to Spanish tabloid, Don Balon, the center-back has been advised by his former boss to seal a Premier League move where he could have another scintillating career with the Red Devils.
The Europa League holders have held a strong interest in the Frenchman since Louis Van Gaal’s time in charge, and the Portuguese manager appears keen on adding Varane to his back line.
We presently have in our ranks the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof – who joined from Benfica in the summer – who are specialists in the central defensive area, though Lindelof is yet to fully get use to the Premier League, and a move for the Los Blancos defender would surely come as a surprise.
Raphael has registered 11 appearance for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season, but has looked fat from his best form having featured in shock league defeats to Real Madrid and Girona. He missed Real Madrid’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the midweek after suffering a muscle injury during in their 2-1 defeat at Girona on last week.
