Manchester United have won Ander Herrera over Barcelona having reportedly offered him a new mouth-watering contract to fend off interest from the La Aliya giants.
Herrera was an American integral part of Jose Mourinho squad this season, registering 50 appearances across all competition. He saw the net twice and provided his teammates with 11 assists. In turn, given the Spaniard importance to the team, it’s no surprise that the Red Devils are keen to
sign him to a new long-term contract, with The Sun claiming that he will be offered a whooping £90,000-a-week contract to commit his long-term future with the club, with just one year left on his current contract with the club.
The contract process has been given massive boost by reports that Barca are interested on the Spaniard, and that comes due to the fact that Ernesto Valverde, his former coach at Athletic Bilbao, has landed the top job with the Catalan giants has been eyeing a reunion.
However, while our side have an option to extend his stay with the club for another one year, they’ll be looking to put in place a new agreement before Herrera return for pre-season training which is ill quickly fend off talk rumors of a possible exit.
There is also a report from The Sun though not sure if it bears fruit that Jose Mourinho sees him as a future captain for the club, but it remains to be seen whether or not Herrera would be handed the captain armband next season as it’s not yet certain dep being on Wayne Rooney’s situation.
All in all, it sounds like United are ready to secure Herrera’s future, and provided that Barca’s interest is genuine, then it looks as though Valverde will have to divert his attention elsewhere to bolster the club’s midfield.
