Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has reportedly handed us a major boost by snubbing a £70million move to Real Madrid, according to sources in Spain.
The 27-year-old Spain No.1 is one of the best between the sticks in Europe, and has been a crucial performer for our side since his arrival all the way back in 2011/12 from Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal.
The report claims that De Gea’s has already told the reigning European and La Liga champions that he is not interested in a move to their side, which could spark a renewed effort for Real Madrid to sign Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, according to sources elsewhere.
Diario Gol have stated that the Los Blancos gave De Gea a deadline by which to decide if he wants the move to Santiago Bernabeu, and that the Chelsea goalkeeper would be their Plan B if he reject the move to Madrid.
With the Blues goalkeeper due to be out of contract until 2019, he looks a more realistic target for Zinedine Zidane’s side anyway at this stage.
However, Courtois has recently been quoted revealing that he was in no hurry to open talks over a new deal at Stamford Bridge, putting discussions off until the end of the season.
