Marouane Fellaini’s time at Old Trafford seems to be running out as the bushy-haired Belgian midfielder is yet to sign a new contract with Manchester United. Some reports claim the former Everton man is unhappy with length of stay he’s being offered by the club is considering switching clubs.
Arsenal, who are still not sure over the possibility of keeping Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates have been reported to want to sign the Belgian star on a free transfer at the end of the season.
According to BBC pundit Danny Mills via Daily Star, he suggest that Arsenal should take advantage of the Belgian’s current situation at Old Trafford and bring him to the Emirates. Speaking to BBC radio, Mills compared Fellaini to former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel and mused that the Gunners are currently lacking such a figure at the Emirates.
This is not to say that signing Fellainin will be an easy task. Inter Milan and Besiktas are also among interested club looking to sign Fellaini, and there are reports that suggests Arsenal also face competition from oil-rich Paris Saint-Germain.
Latest reports claim that PSG will offer Fellaini a four-year deal. According to French outlet, Le10Sport, the French outlet wrote that the Belgian secretly had a meeting with the Ligue 1 giants to talk about a January deal.
PSG want to strengthen the core of their midfield as they only rely on Thiago Motta and to comply with the UEFA’s Financial Fair Play procedure, they have to offload some of their players following the record-breaking transfer of Neymar from Barcelona to PSG last summer.
Fellaini joined Manchester United in 2013, reuniting with his former Everton boss David Moyes. Fellaini initially struggled at Old Trafford, but has become a key member of Jose Mourinho’s plans to bring United back to the top.
The Belgian’s current contract with United runs out in 2018.
